Visit To Mad River (http://www.madriver.co.uk/)
We were set the task of going to a design agency to ask questions about the design industry, when looking at the list of different agencies around dorset i absolutely fell in love with Mad River. Just from looking at the website and looking at all the different work they had done they definitely seperate themselves from other design agencies, making themselves very different. When ringing them to see if we could come in and visit they seemed more than happy to help us, which was a fantastic opportunity to go in and see what they do. Their office said so much about the company and what they are about, going along with the theme of the website. It was just so quirky and not what i thought a design agencies office would look like. Reuben and Sherrie were so much help and really great during the interview giving us as much information as we needed to know about the industry. They also set out lots of treats for us too, which is always a plus. There was so much i just didn’t know about the industry before this interview, i found that it has definitely given me the motivation that i needed. I now know i’m going to have to step it up quite a bit if i expect to get anywhere as it is unbelievably hard work to get anywhere in this industry. They also gave us a fab art working sheet to use when going through any uni work that we do in the future, which is definitely going to help when getting our work absolutely perfect. They were also kind enough to let us record the interview and take pictures of the studio, which will help to write an amazing report. We ended by sending an email to the Mad River team thanking them again for the opportunity to come in and thanking them for their time. Many thanks to Mad river!

Final layout for the marian bantjes interview, still think there may be too much white space? But quite happy with the layout now.

First trial at layout on indesign, maybe a bit too boring at the moment? or maybe the chairs feature too often?

6th AprilListening to marian bantjes interview for type radio, she talks a lot about the piece of work with the wooden folding chairs and how she didn’t put her hands on this piece of work. so i experimented with interesting ways of placing the wooden folding chairs in a way they would wrap around a text.

Some screen shots from my animation, found i have planned too many key frames for the amount of time i have been allowed and a lot isn’t going how i wanted it to go. But still trying. Finding After Effects quite a challenge to use, as i’ve never used it before this project. The spirals in his eyes twist and some text flashes like a strobe light etc, that was the only ‘club like’ vibe i could incorporate into my animation. Its not going to be one of my better pieces of work but at least i can say i’ve tried it.

Been looking at different short animations by talk to frank as i’m looking at drug use, i wanted to look at the link between clubs and drugs. MDMA/Ecstasy seems to be one that comes up a lot along with ketamine, so i think i could take a lot from this particular animation.
